About Us

About the Act

Under The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (the FOI Act) you have the right to know how public services like the NHS are organised and run. This includes being able to find out how much they cost and how to make a complaint, if you need to. You also have the right to know what services we provide, what our goals and targets are and how well we’re doing.

We want to make things simple and easy for you, so we’re committed to being as open as possible about these things. We aim to show what’s happening and to make sure that any information you need is easy to request and access.

As part of this, our Publication Scheme (made under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002), is designed to help you find all the information we publish. The Publication Scheme is divided into sections, under each section you should find all of the information that we publish on that topic.

Your Response

• You will receive a response within 20 working days. 
• Some requests may incur a charge but you will be informed of this before you receive a final response.

Information Exemptions

• Some information you request may be exempt from publication. 
• These exemptions are listed in the Act and include confidential and personal information such as medical records. 
• If some or all of the information you request is exempt this will be explained when we respond to your request. 
• Health records are exempt from Freedom of Information legislation. 

Unhappy with Your Response?

• If you are unhappy with the response you receive you have the right to ask for us to carry out an internal review of the decision by writing to:
